What kind of events do you work on?
Over the past 10+ years, I have worked on everything from independent theatre productions to corporate exhibitions, conferences and experiences globally.
What’s been the highlight ofyour career so far?
I have two…
Being part of the team that won Best Event at the Australian Event Awards in 2018. And producing my brother’s award-winning one-man show, How Can You Sleepat Night? at Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2016.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned?
To always lead with empathy, and to listen in order to understand, not reply. This is something I re-learn every day! I’m also reminded that we all make mistakes, and we always will – so own it, fix it and then move forward, stronger than before.
Do agencies do enough to develop young talent?
More could be done from a mentoring perspective. Not all leaders are meant to be mentors, but those who are should do their best to help grow and mentor those in their daily life. Aligning myself with mentors – particularly strong women – has been incredibly beneficial to my career development.
What would be your dream event to work on?
I would love to curate a series of intimate dinner parties throughout the world in people’s homes, where the (short) guest list includes well-known personalities, creatives, local heroes, etc. The host is my grandmother (or grandmothers around the world) – an intelligent, witty, compassionate woman, full of experience, wisdom and stories to share.
